Our History"Declare his glory among the nations, his wonders among all people." (Psalm 96:3 KJV) Tabernacle of Praise was founded on April 10, 1997, the result of a vision given to Bishop Alfred Jackson and his subsequent resignation from Fishing Creek Baptist Church in York, S.C. While traveling to Bible Study at the former church one night, Bishop Jackson heard the Lord say, “Tabernacle of Praise.” Uncertain of the meaning, Bishop pondered these words in his heart. Finally, the revelation came.

The church held its first worship service on April 13, 1997 at the McCelvey Center in York. Ten months later, the Lord led Bishop to our present location. We first opened our doors on Mar. 15, 1998 — beginning with one bench, a few metal folding chairs, an amplifier, one microphone and a lot of dust. Nevertheless, the worship experience was wonderful.
Since then, we have purchased two other properties, renovated the present location with classrooms, office space and a baptistery; added to our membership; and planted churches in Africa, the Dominican Republic and Seattle, Wash.
